Dr. Tanya Polec
Medical Director / Owner
O.D., FNORA, FCOVD

Dr. Tanya Polec has been the Medical Director of Vision & Balance for over 15 years. She is one of three on the International Executive Board of Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association(noravisionrehab.org). She graduated from the University of Arizona in Molecular Cellular Biology and Southern College of Optometry.

She has completed two fellowships:
College of Vision Development and Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation.


She has had the honor of being mentored with Dr. David Friedel for over 15 years who is a specialist with strabismus, amblyopia and other visual dysfunctions.

She had published numerous research papers with Dr. William Padula and Dr. Mo Mortazavi on Brain Injury Rehabilitation and Assessment.  She works with various UofA  concussed athletes, Special Forces for Air Force, Tucson Roadrunner Hockey Team and is a Vision Consultant- for a Sports medicine, rehabilitation and Concussion Center (SPARCC).

Betiana Pascual
Clinical Director

Betiana is a Behavioral Optometrist and Vision Therapist who joined VB in 2020, bringing her international experience into our practice.

Her broad expertise includes Syntonic Therapy, Evaluation and Training of Strabismus, and Contact Lenses. She obtained her degree at the Universidad Nacional de Villa María in Argentina in 2016 and continued her studies in Brazil with Sanet-Vergara Vision Seminars, where she received her Specialization in Behavioral Optometrist in 2018.

In 2020 she completed the program on Neuro Visual Rehabilitation with Dr. Padula. Betiana had her own practice in Argentina for almost 10 years, where she was taking care of patients with strabismus and amblyopia, learning-related problems, and contact lenses. She moved to Tucson in 2020 where she joined Dr. Polec’s team, and since then, has been working and helping patients with passionate dedication.

Jordan Morgan
Director of IT

Jordan joined Vision & Balance in August 2022 and has taken over online operations focusing on developing IT strategies, managing computer systems, network security, overseeing software/hardware operations and website development. 

Jordan first came in contact with Dr. Polec as a former patient while in his undergraduate studies in Computer Science at University of Arizona. Jordan was a college football player who suffered multiple concussions in a short period of time while playing. He then received therapy for over 2 years. After completing his therapy he would then continue his career in the IT field assessing risks, identifying ways to mitigate risks for multiple companies, as well as project management, testing multiple systems and technologies to identify cost-effective solutions.

Jordan has been living in Scottsdale for the past two and a half years where he has been working and wanting to help patients who have experienced issues similar to him as well as help the team that gave him his vision back.

Diane Adelhelm
COVT Vision Therapist

Diane started her career as a vision therapist in 1999 and began training under Dr. Leonard Press in Fair Lawn, NJ.At the time, Dr. Press was the president of COVD and one of the leading doctors in developmental vision therapy. While working with Dr. Press, Diane began the process of becoming certified as an optometric vision therapist.Diane earned her certification in 2002 and  has continued to take classes to expand her knowledge base.She has completed the Padula courses in Neuro-Visual Processing (Optometric) Rehabilitation and Visual/Postural Dysfunction Following a Neurological Event Levels 1-3.

Gemma Quinones
ABOC Optician

Gemma is our optician and pretesting technician. She assists our doctors with scribing and medical dictation. Medical scribing helps with customized frame selection, giving Gemma a better understanding of patients’ visual difficulties and needs. As an optician, Gemma aims to find frames that will help patients succeed in their treatment, be a pair of functional glasses, and still feel comfortable and stylish. Being bilingual, Gemma can also assist by acting as an interpreter for our Spanish speaking patients. Gemma has worked in the optometry field since 2018 and has achieved certification as an optician by the American Board of Opticianry while working towards her National Contact Lens Examiners certification to become a licensed optician.As an optician, Gemma is a certified eye care professional that works with and supports our optometrists.

Chloe Metzler
Optometric Technician

Chloe is the newest member of our Vision and Balance team. She is currently finishing up her last semester at the University of Arizona, majoring in Neuroscience and Cognitive science. After graduation, she plans on applying to Optometry school to become an optometrist. She is one of our technicians who assists with PBMT, ATLT, and pretesting. Chloe is also training to become a vision therapist. In her free time, she enjoys running, hiking, crocheting, and hanging out with her cat, Winston.

Arcelia Gallego
Front Desk and Technician Assistant

Arcelia assists us at the front desk and as a technician assistant. Arcelia is customer service oriented and works hard to help our patients schedule and complete the necessary step to get help in our office. She is fluent in Spanish and has a passion for teaching and helping others. In her time outside of the office. Arcelia works with local cat rescues to help stray cats find fosters homes and medical help.

Nkeng Njunegeh
Front Desk

Nkeng assists with scheduling and booking patients for their appointments at the front desk.  
Nkeng is from Fontem, Cameroon and moved to Tucson 13 years ago with her family. Nkeng graduated from the University of Arizona Spring 2021 Class with a double degree in a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts. In college she triple-majored in Biochemistry, Molecular & Cellular Biology, and East Asian Studies. Nkeng minored in the Korean Language and enjoys learning different languages. Her goal is to continue her education attending medical school and become a doctor.
